Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha visited Visakhapatnam today and held a press conference at the police commissioner’s office. During the briefing, she issued a stern warning to the police, emphasizing that they should not engage in politics. She made it clear that police officers should focus on their duties and refrain from political activities while in uniform. “If you want to do politics, take off the khaki shirt and wear khaddar instead,” she asserted.
Minister Anitha also suggested the implementation of a friendly policing system in the state to build public confidence in the police. She criticized the conduct of the police over the past five years, stating that they had been perceived as tools for harassing opposition parties, guarding homes of political interests, and instilling fear. Anitha stressed the need for the police to change this perception and work towards fostering trust and security among the public.
