Visakhapatnam:Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Anitha has responded to the rampant rise in the use and sale of ganja in the state, accusing the former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of neglect. She alleged that under her administration, not a single review meeting was conducted to curb the spread of ganja. Criticizing Jagan’s claim of making Visakhapatnam the administrative capital, she quipped that it had instead become the ganja capital. She further alleged that even YSRCP leaders are involved in the sale of ganja and declared a firm stance against it starting Monday.
Minister Anitha announced the formation of a task force dedicated to combating the cannabis issue. She warned of police action against those loitering after 8 PM and stated that rewards would be given for information leading to the arrest of ganja traffickers. Highlighting systemic neglect, she pointed out that the police force had been underfunded for the past five years, receiving no allowances.
In addition to addressing the ganja problem, Home Minister Anitha vowed to take strict action against eve-teasing across the state. She criticized the Jagan government for failing to establish a police academy and for diverting funds meant for the police system. Reiterating their commitment to lawful action, she stated that despite provocations, they would not engage in vindictive actions against YSRCP. She announced plans to convert Disha police stations into women’s police stations and urged YCP-affiliated policemen to reform or step aside. Emphasizing adherence to the law, she assured that no revenge would be taken, but wrongdoers would be dealt with according to the law.
