Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asserted that while manifestos were historically filled with falsehoods, his government has brought credibility to their promises. Speaking at a large public gathering in Old Gajuwaka on Tuesday (May 7) as part of the election campaign, he outlined the achievements of the YSRCP government over the past five years. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections, stressing that they would determine the future trajectory of the region.
He criticized the previous administration led by Chandrababu Naidu, highlighting that despite his long tenure as CM, there was a lack of notable schemes benefiting the poor. In contrast, Reddy cited the creation of 231,000 jobs in 59 months and the transformation of 13 districts into 26 as significant achievements. He also pointed out the establishment of 17 medical colleges and initiatives such as solving the uddanam problem and the development of digital libraries and cell towers in tribal areas.
YS Jagan assured continued support for welfare schemes if the YSRCP is re-elected, cautioning that these programs would cease under Chandrababu’s leadership. He highlighted educational reforms, including the Nadu-Nedu initiative, introduction of English medium and digital teaching in government schools, and making Andhra Pradesh the top state in ease of doing business.
Furthermore, he pledged to designate Visakhapatnam as the executive capital and announced that his swearing-in ceremony would take place there on June 4th. He emphasized the importance of equitable development, stressing the elimination of bribery and discrimination in civil services and the implementation of various inclusive schemes. He concluded by posing a rhetorical question, asking if these achievements did not represent sustainable development.
