The YSRCP’s selection strategies for candidates in the upcoming 2024 assembly elections have sparked tension along the Godavari coast. The announcement of changes in six seats across the combined two Godavari districts has led to unrest among leaders from both districts. YSRCP MLAs and ministers are seeking audiences at the CM’s camp office to reconcile with the chief minister.
Concerned about potential seat losses in the next elections due to organizational changes, leaders are meeting CM Jagan to request another chance. The party’s high command, guided by surveys and reports, is also altering constituencies for MLAs and ministers. After announcing 11 seats recently, another list is in preparation. The high command is actively involved in selecting candidates for the two Godavari districts, prompting leaders from these regions to meet CM Jagan.
Notable figures such as Pithapuram MLA Pendem DoraBabu, Prathipadu MLA Parvatha Purnachandra Prasad, Ramachandrapuram MLA and Minister Chelluboyina Venugopal, Polavaram MLA Tellam Balaraju, Chintalapudi MLA VR Elija, Guntur West MLA Maddali Giri, among others, have individually met the CM, explaining the current situation in their constituencies and expressing their desire for another ticket.
