PCC Chief YS Sharmila addressed a Congress party meeting in Mangalagiri, emphasizing the urgent need to fight for the special status of the state. “If we don’t stand up now, our state will never receive special status,” she asserted. Sharmila likened the special category status for Andhra Pradesh to a lifeline but criticized Jagan for betraying the state. She questioned whether someone who reneges on promises can truly be considered YSR’s successor. Sharmila clarified that her entry into Andhra Pradesh politics was not driven by personal motives, stating that she would have entered politics in 2019 if that were the case.
She credited Rahul Gandhi for inspiring her entry into AP politics, citing his commitment to granting special category status to the state. Criticizing the YSRCP, TDP, and Jana Sena, Sharmila equated voting for them to indirectly supporting the BJP. She questioned the effectiveness of Modi’s governance for AP and expressed disappointment in Pawan Kalyan’s alleged admiration for Modi. Sharmila highlighted her dedication to fighting for the people’s interests, particularly regarding the pursuit of special category status. She highlighted the alarming rate of youth suicides due to unemployment and emphasized that AP’s future hinges on achieving special category status.
