Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu addressed the gathering after Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu assumed the role of Speaker of the AP Assembly.
“Mr. Speaker you are one of the most senior legislators in the Telugu states. It brings me immense joy to see you, a BC leader, as the President of the Legislative Assembly today. In the past, we have seen you among the MLAs in the House, and now we see you as the Speaker. I am very happy and proud. My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to you on being unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 16th Legislative Assembly.
There are many new legislators in the assembly today. They should look up to Ayyannapatrudu’s life as an example. Coming from an ordinary family, he was born on September 4, 1957, in Narsipatnam, Uttarandhra, to Chintakayala Varahallu Dora and Chellayamma Dora. Ayyannapatrudu entered politics when NTR garu founded the party and called upon the youth to join. He was just 25 years old then. Since then, he has served as an MLA seven times and an MP once. He has made significant contributions as an MLA, MP, and minister, marking his presence in the Telugu states. Ayyanna has risen to every challenge and excelled in every role given to him.
His family has been involved in politics for over six decades. His grandfather, Lachcha Patrudu, contested and won as an independent and was a contemporary of freedom fighter Gouthu Lachanna. Ayyannapatrudu, inheriting his grandfather’s legacy, continues to work with the same spirit today. He was elected as MLA in 1983, 1985, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2014, and 2024. He has been contesting in Narsipatnam since the formation of the Telugu Desam Party, which is remarkable! A seven-time MLA, he served as a minister for 16 years, won as an MP from Anakapalli in 1996, and served as a politburo member of TDP for 10 years. He also held positions as minister for technical education, forest, roads and buildings, and panchayati raj, serving as minister for roads and buildings three times.
Ayyanna’s character is that of a fighter, an uncompromising leader with unique qualities. Ask about Ayyannapatrudu in any remote place in the Telugu states, and people will know him. At 66 years old, he remains a firebrand and will continue to be so till the very end. There is no compromise anywhere.”
