Malayalam film L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and starring Mohanlal, has achieved a remarkable box office milestone. Released on March 27, the film has received positive reviews and continues to perform strongly. Featuring Manju Warrier and Tovino Thomas in key roles, the film has now entered the ₹200 crore club within just four days of its release, making it the fastest Malayalam film to reach this benchmark.
Despite its commercial success, the film has faced controversy over certain scenes related to the Gujarat Godhra riots, which have been criticized for allegedly portraying a particular community in an objectionable manner. However, the box office collections remain unaffected by the controversy.
Celebrating the film’s achievement, Mohanlal took to X (formerly Twitter) and stated, “Overlord has magnificently crossed the ₹200 crore mark. Empuraan is making history.”
