Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former minister, criticized the Congress government at Telangana Bhavan on December 24 while presenting the ‘Sweda Patra’ (sweat paper) as a counter to Congress’ white paper. He accused the Congress of making deliberate efforts to tarnish the image of K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and the BRS party by manipulating numbers.
KT Rama Rao asserted that the white papers were part of Congress’s orchestrated campaign to distort public perception. In the ‘Sweda Patra,’ he pointed out discrepancies in debts across various sectors like TSRTC, electricity, and civil supplies. Additionally, he provided a comprehensive progress report detailing Telangana’s achievements over the past nine and a half years. Disputing Congress’s claim that the state’s gross debt was Rs 6.70 lakh crore, KTR stated that the actual figure was Rs 3.17 lakh crore.
Highlighting Telangana’s advancement over the last decade, he mentioned that the per capita income increased from Rs 1,12,162 in 2014 to Rs 3,17,115 in 2023. Similarly, the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) surged from Rs 4.51 lakh crore to Rs 13.27 lakh crore in 2023. KTR also noted the reduction in poverty from 21.92% during the state’s formation to 5.8% at present.
