The recent assault on Collector Prateek Jain in Lagcharla, Vikarabad district, has sparked significant controversy across Telangana. The police have now presented a remand report, naming former Kodangal MLA Patnam Narendra Reddy as the prime accused (A1) in the case. Vikarabad district’s Multi-Zone IG Satyanarayana confirmed that 47 individuals were initially taken into custody, with five more arrests made recently. As of now, 21 people have been sent to remand, and four specialized teams have been dispatched to locate additional suspects.
Key revelations in the remand report shed light on the case. It has been disclosed that Suresh, who allegedly misled authorities, has a history of multiple criminal charges. The report also points out that 19 of the accused have no land, while some others own land, but it falls outside the scope of the ongoing land acquisition initiative. Authorities have identified suspects in the Hyderabad region, and more arrests are expected. Several farmers have been questioned and released as part of the investigation.
The remand report also raises serious allegations against Patnam Narendra Reddy, accusing him of orchestrating the attack to damage the reputation of the Congress government under Revanth Reddy’s leadership. The investigation suggests that the assault was carried out with the involvement of key BRS leaders, including KTR. Narendra Reddy reportedly admitted to frequent communications with Suresh about the attack. On Wednesday, the Kodangal court sent Narendra Reddy to a 14-day remand, and he was later transferred to Chanchalguda Jail for further proceedings.
