The comedy-drama film Kothapallilo Okappudu is set to entertain audiences on the OTT platform Aha starting August 22. Subscribers of the Aha Gold package will have early access, allowing them to watch the movie 24 hours before the public release, the streaming service announced along with a social media poster titled “Kothapalli is Calling.”
The film was theatrically released on July 18. Directed by Praveen Paruchuri, known for producing Care of Kancharapalem and Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya, this is his directorial debut. The film is presented by Rana Daggubati and introduces actors Manoj Chandra, Monika, and others to Tollywood.
Kothapallilo Okappudu tells the story of Ramakrishna (Manoj Chandra), a young man educated up to intermediate level, who works as an assistant to Appanna (Ravindra Vijay), a local moneylender in the village of Kothapalli. Appanna also runs a recording dance studio. The village elder Reddy (Banerjee) favors a match between his daughter-in-law Savitri (Monika) and Ramakrishna, who has feelings for her. To facilitate their union, Reddy enlists Savitri’s friend Andam, also known as Adilakshmi (Usha Bonela).
However, complications arise when rumors of a relationship between Ramakrishna and Adilakshmi surface, prompting the village panchayat to decree that they marry. Ramakrishna, opposed to this, tries to assert his love for Savitri. The film explores how Ramakrishna handles the situation, who supports him, and how Appanna, once feared for his ruthless lending practices, becomes a respected figure in the village.
