Konda Surekha takes oath as Forest and Endowments Minister

Hyderabad: Minister Konda Surekha took the initiative by being the first to endorse a proposal aimed at augmenting ex-gratia payments to the families affected by wildlife attacks. The minister officially approved the agreement, doubling the compensation from the current Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. An official directive to this effect will be issued shortly.

Assuming the role of Minister for Forest, Environment, and Endowments at the Secretariat today, Konda Surekha also sanctioned another document permitting the import of elephants from other states for diverse programs and festivals. Subsequently, a comprehensive evaluation of the forest department was conducted. In discussions with officials, Minister Konda Surekha inquired about the objectives for enhancing greenery in the upcoming year through the Haritha Haram initiative.

The minister explored the feasibility of new recruitments and assessed the current staffing situation in the forest and devaswom departments. Emphasizing his commitment to regular availability, he encouraged both staff and officials to carry out their duties with integrity. Expressing the need to function cohesively as a team to achieve common goals, he urged everyone to act as advocates for environmental protection and the expansion of green spaces.
