Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan received relief from the Kerala High Court regarding the seizure of his luxury car. The court directed the Customs Department to communicate its decision within a week on the matter. In compliance with the court’s order, Dulquer submitted all relevant documents to the authorities. Following the submission, Customs officials decided to release his car along with another luxury vehicle, subject to certain conditions. The cars will be released once 20 percent of their value is furnished as a bank guarantee.
The issue stems from allegations of illegal vehicle imports from Bhutan, which prompted large-scale raids by the Customs Department across Kerala. Under the operation titled “Operation Numkhor,” officials conducted searches at the residences of several film celebrities, including Dulquer Salmaan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. More than 40 high-end vehicles were reportedly seized during the raids, drawing widespread attention within the entertainment industry.
Challenging the seizure of his vehicle, Dulquer had recently filed a petition in the Kerala High Court. The matter came up for hearing on Friday, where the court granted temporary relief while directing Customs to expedite its decision. The case has generated significant interest, as it intertwines celebrity status with legal scrutiny over luxury vehicle imports in the state.
