Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s much-anticipated biographical political drama, ‘Emergency’, has once again been delayed. The film’s release has been rescheduled to two weeks later than its original date of September 20, 2024.
In a recent interview, director Kangana Ranaut disclosed that while the film had initially passed the censor board’s review, the certification process was halted following death threats received by CBFC officials. Ranaut mentioned facing substantial pressure to remove sections of the film related to Indira Gandhi’s assassination, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, and the Punjab riots.
Despite these obstacles, Ranaut affirmed her commitment to releasing only the uncut version of ‘Emergency’, stating she will not be intimidated by the threats. The situation’s resolution remains uncertain.
Produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana Ranaut under the Manikarnika Films banner, *Emergency* stars Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, Bhumika Chawla, and others, with music composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar.
