The record-breaking spree at box office continues even after the first weekend for Telugu film Kalki 2898AD which stars an ensemble cast in the form of Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amithabh Bachchan and Disha Patani. As per trade reports, the Nag Ashwin directional is holding well on weekdays as it marches ahead to achieve more milestones in all territories. So far, the film grossed more than 700 crores worldwide.
While the domestic revenues are so-so after the first Monday, the impressive collections in North America continue to shock the trade circles. It is a known fact that the film has already grossed more than 100 Crores from the combined territories of USA and Canada by the end of Tuesday with a cumulative gross of $ 12.85 Million. The film pulled in strong numbers on Tuesday with $ 842K from 874 locations.
Continuing its stunning box office haul, Kalki notched up another half a million dollar gross on Wednesday and surpassed the $ 13 million mark in style. Kalki has already outperformed some of the biggest Bollywood hits like Padmavat and Dangal. The film now targets to edge past SS Rajamouli’s patriotic spectacle RRR ($ 14.2 M), Animal ( $ 15 M) and Jawan ( $ 15.2 M) in the second weekend.
In all probability, Kalki stands a chance to end up as the third highest grossing Indian film of all time in North America. Only Baahubali 2 with $ 20 M gross and Pathaan with $ 17.4 million are likely to retain their positions in the list.
Nag Ashwin’s unique script blending mythology-inspired characters and science fiction elements with a tinge of entertainment and top class visuals overcame the narrative shortcomings and protracted run time to emerge as the box office winner.
