This year’s biggest blockbuster Kalki 2898AD starring Prabhas in the lead role and Amithabh Bachchan in a pivotal character is smashing numerous records in every territory with its stupendous box-office run. The film, which released on June 27th, has emerged as one among the ten highest grossing Indian films of all time with more than 800 Crores gross in ten days.
In North America, Kalki 2898AD is on a record-breaking spree from the first day. After turning out to be the biggest opener of all time with more than $ 5.5 million gross including Wednesday premieres, the Nag Ashwin directional refused to slow down and broke numerous existing records. By the end of first Sunday, the film recorded the highest ever gross for the first weekend with over $ 11 million gross.
Not slowing down after the first weekend, the film remained rock steady during weekdays and snapped another $ 3 million gross before the start of second weekend.
On second Friday, Kalki clocked $ 601K and followed it up with another $ 650K on second Saturday. The total gross now stands at $ 15.5 million in North America.
Kalki 2898AD has surpassed some of the previous biggest hits like Jawan, RRR, Animal and Dangal. It is now the third highest grossing film in North America with only Pathaan and Baahubali 2 ahead of it.
The film needs another $ 2 million to topple Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and another $ 4.5 million to create history in the biggest overseas territory. Going by the current trend, it looks like Kalki will target the top slot.
