Hyderabad: Director Nag Ashwin has provided an update on the much-anticipated sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, revealing that script development is currently underway. Following the first installment’s success, expectations are high for Kalki 2.
“We are still in the process of defining what Project K truly represents. Once that is finalized, we will move ahead with production. Our goal is to take the film to sets by the end of this year,” Nag Ashwin stated during a press interaction.
He further elaborated on the sequel’s storyline, confirming that Prabhas will have an extended screen presence in Kalki 2. “The narrative will revolve around Bhairava and Karna, giving these arcs greater prominence,” he added. However, he refrained from specifying a release date, citing the extensive work required for the project.
Prabhas’ Upcoming Projects
Meanwhile, Prabhas remains occupied with multiple high-profile projects. He is currently filming The Raja Saab and Fauji (working title), while Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit is set to begin production soon. Additionally, the actor is collaborating with Prashanth Neel for Salaar 2: Shouryanga Parvam and is expected to work with Prasanth Varma on another project.
Reports indicate that Spirit’s script has been finalized, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga is keen to complete the film at the earliest. Prabhas has reportedly been requested to dedicate his schedule exclusively to Spirit until its completion. Given the scale of production, he is expected to be engaged with the film until the end of the year.
In the meantime, Nag Ashwin plans to finalize the script for Kalki 2 and complete preliminary shooting for select portions to facilitate a smooth production process once Prabhas is available.
