The nominations for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2024 have been officially announced. Among the contenders from Telugu cinema, Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, has earned a nomination in the Best Film category. The futuristic epic will compete against titles such as Homebound, L2: Empuraan, Maharaj, Stree 2, and Superboys of Malegaon.
In the Best Actor – Male category, the nominees include some of Indian cinema’s leading talents. Veteran actor Mohanlal has been nominated for his role in L2: Empuraan, while Abhishek Bachchan is in contention for I Want to Talk. Other nominees are Adarsh Gourav (Superboys of Malegaon), Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa (both for Homebound), and Junaid Khan (Maharaj).
The Best Actor – Female category includes Anjali Sivaraman (Bad Girl), Banita Das (Village Rockstars 2), Kareena Kapoor (The Buckingham Murders), Shraddha Kapoor (Stree 2), and Tillotama Shome (Shadowbox).
The IFFM 2024 celebrations will take place in Melbourne, Australia, from August 14 to 24, with the winners set to be revealed on August 14. The nominations are based on films and projects released between June 15, 2023, and June 14, 2024.
