Tollywood’s Junior NTR is currently facing a legal battle over a piece of land he purchased in Jubilee Hills 21 years ago. Despite possessing what he believes are legitimate documents proving his ownership, banks are attempting to seize his property. The plot, originally bought for Rs 36 lakh in 2003 from Sunku Geetha Lakshmi in Jubilee Hills Housing Society, has significantly appreciated in value over the years. Its current market worth is close to Rs 24 crore, with land prices soaring to Rs 3.5 lakh per square yard.
Additionally, Junior NTR has constructed an extravagant house on the premises, adding to the stakes of the dispute. Seeking relief, he has turned to the Telangana High Court for assistance after feeling disadvantaged by the actions of the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) in favoring the banks. However, during a recent court session, a bench comprising Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice J Sreenivas Rao raised questions about Junior NTR’s decision to bypass the Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT), an appellate remedy available to him. In response, Junior NTR’s legal representative cited a technical error in the DRT’s order as the reason for seeking intervention from the High Court.
The court, while considering Junior NTR’s plea, has requested further clarification by June 3, asking for the submission of relevant documents. The case is scheduled for review on June 6, as the legal battle continues to unfold.
