He specifically praised Mammootty’s courageous portrayal of a gay character in the 2023 film Kaathal: The Core, highlighting the significance of such a role in mainstream cinema.
Kaathal revolves around Matthew Devasya (Mammootty), a retired bank manager who contests local panchayat elections as an independent candidate. Concurrently, his wife Oman (Jyothika) files for divorce, accusing him of being gay. The film explores Matthew’s challenges amid these accusations and the impact on his personal and political life.
