Popular choreographer Shaik Jani Basha, known as Jani Master, has been facing several charges of sexual assault after a junior dancer came out and lodged a complaint with Narsingi Police station in Telangana last month. He was arrested by the Special Operation Team of Cyberabad in Goa in the third week of September and was later moved to Hyderabad. He was later subjected to judicial custody for further investigation.
Now, the Rangareddy District Court has granted a temporary relief by approving bail for five days from October 6th to 10th. It is a known fact that Jani won a national award for his choreography to the song Megham Karukkatha from the film Thiruchitrambalam starring Dhanush. The awards were announced on August 16 and the ceremony is likely to take place later this week in the National Capital.
The regular bail petition of Jani Master was heard last week and it was postponed to today. As Jani sought permission to attend the event in Delhi, the court gave him some relief by considering his request. A case under POSCO act was registered on Jani Master and the enquiry on the allegations is currently underway.
Jani Master is yet to react on the issue after his arrest. Reportedly, he accused the complaint during his investigation and stated that she harassed him to marry her. The Telugu film industry has extended complete support to the victim and several notable persons have condemned Jani’s assualt on her since many years.
