Renowned Malayalam actor Vinayakan, best known across South India for portraying the idol smuggler in Rajinikanth’s Jailer, was detained by the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police in Hyderabad on Saturday evening. As per reports, Vinayakan, who was reportedly intoxicated, engaged in rude behavior with an airline employee at the airport.

Vinayakan was traveling from Kochi to Goa with a layover in Hyderabad when he reportedly had an altercation and acted rudely towards the airline’s gate staff. The airline staff handed him over to the CISF, who then lodged a complaint with the RGI police. Following this, the police filed a case against Vinayakan, charging him under bailable offenses, including public misconduct under the influence of alcohol and causing a public disturbance.

Speaking to the media, Vinayakan claimed that CISF personnel escorted him to a room at the airport and physically assaulted him. “I don’t understand why I’m being detained. I haven’t done anything wrong. The authorities can verify the CCTV footage for proof,” he stated.
This marks Vinayakan’s second arrest in recent months. In October 2023, the Ernakulam Town North police detained him for creating a disturbance at the station amid a family conflict. After undergoing a medical examination, he was released on bail.
