The attack on veteran Kapu reservation stir leader and former minister Mudragada Padmanabham’s house has turned into a politically sensitive one after former Chief Minister and YCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy entered into the scene. He consoled Mudragada over the telephone from his foreign tour on Monday and discussed the attack for over 20 minutes.
Gangisetty Gangadhar, who attacked Mudragada’s house during week hours on Sunday, is in police custody. He attacked Mudragada’s house in Kirlampudi in Kakinada district with a tractor in the early hours of Sunday. He broke down the gate of the Kirlampudi house and entered inside.
He crossed the boundary wall and entered the house while allegedly shouting slogans of Jai Jana Sena. He hit a car parked in the house premises with the tractor. Due to this, the rear of the car was damaged. At that time, Mudragada Padmanabham came out of the house after hearing a loud noise. The followers in the house caught the man and beat him up. Later, he was handed over to the police.
While both Jana Sena and TDP activists are alleging he was in a drunken stage at that time, but nothing to do politics. But, former YCP minister Ambadi Rambabu claimed he is a Jana Sena activist from Pithapuram constituency.
On this occasion, Jagan assured that the party will stand by Mudragada. He made it clear that party leaders and workers will support him in any disastrous situation.
YSR Congress Party leaders reacted strongly to this incident. They criticized that this attack was intentional and that the Kapu leader was attacked for political reasons. They said that whenever the TDP was in power, attacks on Mudragada Padmanabham and his house had become common.
After this incident, several senior YSRCP leaders from the joint Kakinada and East Godavari districts went to Kirlampudi. They inquired about the incident. Former minister Ambati Rambabu said that this was a Jana Sena plot and that the attacker was a Pithapuram MLA’s follower.
However, TDP MP Sana Satish criticized the YSRCP for politicizing the attack on Mudragada’s house, saying that it is despicable. He alleged that the attacker was once a follower of Mudragada and suspected that he might have committed the attack due to some personal transaction dispute. He alleged that if YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy calls Mudragada over phone, it is understood that everything is a drama being played by YSRCP.
