Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is reprising his role as Senapathy in the highly anticipated vigilante action film ‘Indian 2’, helmed by Maverick director Shankar. The eagerly awaited sequel comes 28 years after the original 1996 classic ‘Indian’, which was a major blockbuster.
Scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 12, ahead of the film’s release, the makers unveiled the film’s trailer.
The trailer begins with a character lamenting the nation’s woes, like corruption and unemployment. Siddharth interrupts, saying everyone criticizes the system as not right, but no one takes action. They metaphorically compare them to barking dogs, but they wait for one hunting dog to correct the system. Sidhharth mentions that there used to be someone like that named ‘Indian’ who fought against these issues. The trailer then introduces Kamal Haasan as Senapathy, portrayed practicing martial arts and preparing for a battle.
Kamal Haasan will be seen in different avatars and multiple get-ups as he approaches to fight against corruption. Amidst widespread protests, Kamal Haasan declares it the “second freedom struggle,” highlighting the protestors’ Gandhian approach, while he says he will take Netaji’s path for justice.
Anirudh Ravichandran’s background score and Ravi Varma’s cinematic visuals add another intense layer to this cinematic experience. Backed by Red Giant Movies and Lyca Productions, the film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, SJ Suryah, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Vivek, Bobby Simha, Kalidas Jayaram, Brahmanandam, and many others in pivotal roles.
