Telangana gears up for polling across all 17 Lok Sabha constituencies on May 13, with over 3.17 crore eligible voters expected to participate. In addition to the Lok Sabha elections, voting will also take place for the by-election of the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly constituency in Hyderabad. Polling hours have been extended to 7 AM to 6 PM in 106 Assembly segments, with an earlier closure at 4 PM in 13 Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected segments. The Election Commission has orchestrated extensive arrangements for a smooth electoral process, with 35,809 polling stations established statewide and a workforce of 2.94 lakh personnel, including security personnel, deployed on poll duty.
To ensure the security and efficiency of the elections, the Election Commission has deployed 160 companies of central forces, along with 72,000 personnel from Telangana, 20,000 from neighboring states, and 4,000 from other uniformed services. This comprehensive security apparatus aims to facilitate a peaceful voting environment. Additionally, the deployment of sector officers, route officers, and micro-observers further enhances the integrity of the electoral process, demonstrating the commitment to conducting free and fair elections in Telangana.
