Vangalapudi Anitha, who won as the TDP candidate from the Payakaraopeta assembly seat, has been appointed to the crucial position of Home Minister. In response to her new role, Anitha expressed her gratitude:
“I would like to thank Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, party national general secretary Nara Lokesh, and NDA leaders for entrusting me with the Home Ministry.” Anitha vowed to bring significant changes to the state’s police system, stating that some police officers have suggested methods for improvement. “If there is no change, we will implement it,” she asserted.
Anitha made it clear that cases like Chandrayya’s murder in Macherla will be reopened and thoroughly investigated. She mentioned that TDP workers and leaders have faced severe difficulties over the past five years and that a review of illegal cases is underway.
“We will cleanse the police department from the grassroots level. The previous government created the myth that there was no Disha law. Our government’s actions will ensure that people are afraid to commit atrocities against women. We will take suggestions from women’s organizations in the state on women’s safety. There will be no vendetta against the police; our government is not like that. However, we feel it is our responsibility to correct wrongdoers. During the previous government’s tenure, the police filed an atrocity case against me. The police are there for the people and must act according to the law.”
Anitha criticized the previous government’s handling of the police force, accusing many IPS officers of being stooges for Jagan and the YSRCP, thus lowering their dignity.
