The Election Commission has implemented an unprecedented security operation in Andhra Pradesh, deploying additional central forces and drones to ensure a peaceful counting day, following significant post-poll violence, particularly in the Palnadu district.
Additionally, the Supreme Court has prohibited YSRCP MLA of Macherla, Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, who is accused of damaging an EVM inside a polling booth, from entering the counting center.
In a separate case, the Supreme Court declined to intervene in the counting of postal ballots after YSRCP challenged the validity of five lakh postal ballots cast in Andhra Pradesh. The party contested an ECI circular stating that if the authorized officer’s seal was missing on Form 13A, the ballot should not be rejected as long as the officer’s name and designation were provided on the form.
