Natural Star Nani’s latest emotional saga Hi Nanna opened on a moderate note last Thursday. Despite aggressive promotions and strong pre-release buzz, the film took a low-key start at the box office and this has come as a big surprise to trade circles.
Nani’s previous outing Dasara took a phenomenal opening with over 30 Crores gross. But, Hi Nanna managed only around 10 Crores gross on its first day. Due to the genre and non-holiday release, the openings seem to be quite underwhelming for Nani’s market.
However, the positive word of mouth and glowing reviews ensured that the film gained strong momentum in the first weekend. As per trade estimates, the film collected terrific numbers on Friday and Saturday as the footfalls saw a huge surge.
In overseas, Hi Nanna is likely to enter the million-dollar club by the end of the weekend. In the Telugu States, the film is going to have a very good first-weekend run. There is a steady uptick in numbers on the first three days and Sunday is going to be another big day for the film.
As Nithiin’s Extra Ordinary Man failed to secure decent reviews, Hi Nanna will have no competition until the release of Salaar. So, it looks like Nani will score another box office hit.
Meanwhile, accolades are pouring in from all quarters for Nani’s soul-stirring performance. The emotional drama struck a chord with family audiences and youth. Directed by debutant Shouryuv, the film has happening beauty Mrunal Thakur as the female lead.
