India’s top-rated filmmaker SS Rajamouli is continuing to walk away with numerous accolades for his awe-inspiring directional skills in the recent mega Tollywood blockbuster RRR. The A-lister who made headlines across the globe with ‘Baahubali’ became the cynosure of the international film fraternity after RRR scored a humongous success at the worldwide box office.
In his ambitious run-up to grab Oscars for RRR, Rajamouli is representing India at various international film festivals across the world. He launched a massive campaign to nominate RRR for Oscars in different categories notwithstanding its rejection by the Film Federation of India as an official entry.
Ahead of the Oscars, Rajamouli bagged another feather in his cap as he was named the Best Director by New York Film Critics Circle for his work in the jaw-dropping action spectacle RRR starring Tollywood heroes NTR and Ram Charan. The Critics Circle rated RRR above all other Hollywood films. Psychological drama Tar won the best film award in this event.
Needless to say, this is a big boost for Rajamouli and team RRR and also gives them more hope in the attempt to bring the first Oscar for an Indian film.
