Promising Telugu actor Vishwaksen’s arduous long quest to score a box office hit seems to have ended with his latest offering Gaami, a science fiction thriller that released last Friday amid strong expectations. Despite not securing an outright blockbuster talk, the film managed to pull moviegoers to theatres in the opening weekend, thanks to the well-crafted pre-release trailers with spectacular visuals and solid publicity material.
Gaami took a solid opening on Friday with career-best collections for Vishwaksen. With a good hold on Saturday, the film grossed over 15 Crores in two days and already entered the profit zone in some territories. Going by the current trend, Gaami will emerge as a clean hit in all areas in the next couple of days. This is a superb feat for a film that took almost four years to complete its filming.
In USA, Gaami is nearing the half-million dollar mark by the end of the first weekend. In Naizam, the film punched out 2.5 Crores and put its buyers in a safe zone in just two days. In all other territories, the collections are decent with good occupancies.
Vishwaksen’s noteworthy performance as aghora and the debut director Vidyadhar Kagita’s novel script with engaging screenplay overshadowed the narrative shortcomings and helped the film big-time.
The backing of renowned production house UV Creations turned out to be a big asset for Gaami.
