Tamil filmmaker N. Lingusamy who is known for his super-hit films like Run, Sandakozhi, Paiyaa, Anjaan and others has now been sentenced to 6months in prison. Going into the story, as we know that the talented filmmaker garnered limelight when the financial firm PVP Capitals Limited filed a case against him and his brother Subash Chandrabose for an Rs. 1.03 crore check bounce case in 2022.

As per the reports, the brothers who own a production company named Thirupathi Brothers borrowed some money from PVP Capitals in 2014. The brothers issued a cheque for Rs. 1.03 crore while returning the money. However, the cheque got bounced and the financial firm filed a case against the Thirupathi brothers last year.

According to India Today, a metropolitan magistrate court in Saidapet sentenced the filmmaker and his brother to six months imprisonment over a cheque fraud case and issued an order on August 22, 2022, however, Lingusamy filed an appeal. But, earlier today, on April 12, the Madras Principal Sessions Court upheld the 6-month jail sentence imposed by the Saidapet court on the filmmaker. Therefore, Lingusamy now has to serve 6 months of jail time.

Speaking on the issue, N. Lingusamy stated that they will go further appeal. Sharing the same, the filmmaker released a statement on his Twitter handle about the issue in Tamil which loosely translates as- ‘The dispute is between PVP capitals and our production house Thirrupathi Brothers film media private limited. The honorable court ruled today on the petition they have filed. We will appeal against this order and legally face the issue.’
