Farmers Reject Centre’s New Proposal on MSP

Thursday, November 14, 2024

New Delhi: On Monday evening, farmer leaders firmly rejected the Centre’s proposal to procure five crops at minimum support prices (MSP) over the next five years. Instead, they declared their intention to recommence their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march on February 21, starting from the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border.

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal conveyed this decision to the media, emphasizing that it was reached after thorough discussions within the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) and Samyukta Kisan Morcha. Dallewal asserted that upon analysis, the government’s proposal lacked benefits for the farmers. The government had presented this plan to farmer leaders during their fourth round of talks held on Sunday in Chandigarh, following earlier meetings on February 8, 12, and 15.
