As the entire country is rooting for the song ‘Natu Natu’, an underdog won the first Academy Award for the Oscars-2023 on behalf of India. The documentary ‘Elephant Whisperers’ bagged the Best Documentary Short Film and made everyone delighted.
The documentary short film ‘Elephant Whisperers’ competed with other short films across the globe like ‘Haulout’, ‘How Do You Measure a Year’ , ‘The Martha Mitchell Effect’ and ‘Stranger at the Gate’ and managed to bag the Oscars and its makers Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga collected the award. The movie is all about a couple Bomman and Bellie who hail from Southern India devote their life for an orphan elephant they found named Raghu. The film deals with the impeccable connection of humans with animals and how they maintained the relationship against all odds.
Meanwhile the other long documentary feature film “All That Breathes” failed to win the award despite getting recommended by the Indian Government and Film Fraternity which many thought of winning but it was ‘Elephant Whisperers’ which made the country proud.
