Eenadu Group Chairman Cherukuri Ramoji Rao (87), who founded the largest circulated Telugu daily Eenadu and influenced Andhra Pradesh politics for over 40 years, passed away early Saturday morning while receiving treatment at a private hospital. Rao had been ailing for some time and was admitted on June 5 due to breathing difficulties. The Group announced his passing through the online edition of Telugu Daily Eenadu and ETV channels.
He began his career with an ad agency in Delhi in his early twenties before moving to Hyderabad in 1962 to start his own business. That same year, he founded Margadarsi Chit Fund, which now boasts an annual turnover of over ₹10,000 crore.
