New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a notice to Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in response to what it terms as a ‘malicious’ comment made against former CM Chandrababu Naidu. This action follows an official complaint lodged with the EC by Varla Ramaiah, a member of the TDP’s Politburo, on April 5th.
Jagan has been directed to provide his response within 48 hours regarding the alleged derogatory remarks he made during YSRCP’s ‘Memanta Siddham’ gathering. Failure to comply will prompt the EC to initiate further proceedings against him.
At YSRCP’s ‘Memanta Siddham’ events in Puttalapattu, Madanapalle, and Naidupeta, Jagan reportedly likened Chandrababu Naidu to various negative characters from popular films.
Meanwhile, tensions between the ruling YSR Congress Party and the primary opposition TDP have escalated as the state assembly and Lok Sabha elections draw nearer. CM Jagan, taking aim at the TDP, stated on Saturday that this election would be a clash of ideologies: one supporting the underprivileged and the other favoring capitalists.
