Fantasy-adventure film Mirai, starring Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, and Shriya, is making waves at the box office, collecting ₹55.6 crore globally within just two days, according to the film team. Director Karthik Ghattamaneni shared insights into the project, noting that if the story had been presented as a web series, it could have explored greater detail. The film’s runtime was carefully managed to make it accessible to younger audiences, and editor Sriker Prasad helped streamline the narrative, resulting in the removal of two songs that disrupted the flow, while the “Vibe” song was kept optional.
Ghattamaneni explained that the story integrates elements of mythology and fantasy, including references to the Treta Yuga. The title Mirai, meaning “future” in Japanese, was chosen for its appeal, and some scenes featuring Kishore Tirumala’s character were cut due to runtime constraints. Shriya’s character background was intentionally left incomplete for potential use in another story. The director emphasized the importance of making the film relatable to younger generations while connecting it to epic narratives in a modern format.
The film was shot extensively on real locations to control costs, and significant time was dedicated to VFX work. The cast, working without caravans for extended periods, demonstrated exceptional commitment, allowing the production to stay within budget. Karthik Ghattamaneni confirmed that a sequel, Mirai Part-2, is planned, promising fans a continuation of the fantasy-adventure saga.
