Dhanush Reveals Childhood Dream of Becoming A Chef At Idli Kadai Trailer Launch

Friday, December 5, 2025

Actor-director Dhanush revealed that he once dreamt of becoming a chef but destiny made him an actor. Speaking at the trailer launch of his self-directed film Idli Kadai in Coimbatore, he shared several interesting insights.

“Somehow, I keep getting roles related to food. Maybe it’s because I always wanted to be a chef. In Jagame Thandhiram, I made parottas, in Thiruchitrambalam I played a food delivery boy, in Raayan I ran a fast-food shop, and now in Idli Kadai I’m making idlis. Whether I write the script or other directors approach me, these roles keep coming my way. Perhaps this is what they call manifestation,” Dhanush said with a smile.

Explaining further, he added, “What we strongly think, we eventually become. Even after becoming an actor, the power of manifestation continues to follow me. I want youngsters to believe in their goals, work hard, and stay focused. If you put your mind and effort into it, anything is possible. That has been the story of my life.”

Talking about Idli Kadai, he described it as a simple, emotional family drama meant to be enjoyed with loved ones. The film is jointly produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Don Pictures. Nithya Menen plays the female lead opposite Dhanush, with Shalini Pandey in a key role and Arun Vijay as the antagonist. The music is composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar. The film is set for a worldwide release on October 1.
