‘Devil’ Glimpse : Kalyan Ram shines as British counterspy

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has cultivated a taste to choose diverse roles. After tasting success with the period genre through Bimbisara, he is yet again coming up with another interesting drama set in the era of pre-independence. Titled Devil, the first look teaser of this film is out just a while ago on the eve of Kalyan Ram’s birthday and it presents him in a fearless avatar.

The one-minute glimpse hints that Devil is going to be a power-packed period outing that revolves around the erstwhile Madras Province during the British era. Kalyan Ram plays a secret British counterspy. He demonstrates peculiar qualities that are hard to guess even by his subordinates. He is dynamic in the intense avatar and displays great elan in action episodes that are mounted on a grand scale.

The teaser entirely focuses on highlighting the lead protagonist’s character without revealing much about the conflict point. It looks like a tailor-made role for Kalyan Ram and he seems to have delivered another strong act in it. Samyuktha Menon gets a brief screen time in the teaser and she looks gorgeous.

Films centered on ‘Spy’ subject are in vogue now and director Naveen Medaram seems to have given a new character arc on how a spying agent should be. He came up with a well-cut teaser that raises the curiosity of the viewers. Srikanth Vissa’s screenplay and story are likely to be defining factors for the film’s output.

Music by Harshwardhan Rameshwar matches the intensity of the teaser and the cinematography by Soundar S Rajan is impressive. Production values by Abhishek Pictures are very grand as every frame is eye-catching.
