Acclaimed musician Devi Sri Prasad has been facing intense criticism for his lackluster score in Suriya’s latest release Kanguva which hit the screens last Thursday. The loud and strident background score for some key scenes turned out to be counterproductive and rendered a negative impact on the film. However, the producer clarified that it was due to sound mixing issue.
Moreover, the news that DSP has been sidelined from scoring the BGM for the much anticipated sequel, Pushpa 2, due to busy commitments and delayed work invited a lot of flak on him for neglecting an event film. Also, the first two songs didn’t create much impact as expected by the moviegoers. There is a talk in film industry that DSP was replaced by Sukumar due to his disappointing work so far for the sequel.
Amidst the ongoing negative feedback, Devi Sri Prasad made a terrific comeback with his stupendous score for the teaser of Kubera which was unveiled on Friday evening. The haunting background score rendered by DSP is a major highlight for the brief glimpse which didn’t feature any dialogue.
As soon as the teaser of Kubera came out, the absorbing score turned out to be a talking among netizens. Many have commented that this is what DSP is capable of doing when he is given complete freedom.
Sekhar Kammula is known for presenting simple and no-nonsense stories with an emotional backdrop. So, it came as a big surprise to everyone when he roped in DSP for Kubera. But, the superlative work by Devi cleared all inhibitions.
