Delhi High Court Adjourns Hearing On MLC Kavitha Bail Petition

Tuesday, November 5, 2024

The Delhi High Court adjourned the hearing of BRC MLC K Kavitha’s bail petition in connection with the liquor policy scam case until noon on May 28. The CBI and ED submitted counter-appeals opposing Kavitha’s release on bail, citing evidence tampering. They also sought to maintain her remand and arrest in the case. However, Vikram Chaudhari, Kavitha’s lawyer, argued that the ED had submitted an undertaking to the Supreme Court stating that no compelling action would be taken against her.

“The ED informed the Supreme Court that Kavitha’s writ petition is pending and the trial is not proceeding. They claimed their undertaking was valid only until the next adjournment, yet a summons was issued under Section 41(A) while the case was still pending,” he contended.
