BRS MLC Kavita Remanded in Delhi Liquor Policy Probe

Saturday, October 5, 2024

BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavita faced a significant setback in the Delhi liquor policy case as the Rouse Avenue court dismissed her bail plea. Following today’s hearing, the court, which had reserved its decision on her petition, announced its verdict, remanding her in judicial custody for 14 days until April 9. The court instructed the police to transfer her to Tihar Jail, a move that is imminent.

The BRS community was taken aback by the court’s ruling. Meanwhile, the court scheduled a full hearing on Kavita’s interim bail plea for April 1. Kavita had requested interim bail citing her son’s ongoing medical tests, but the court declined her request. Additionally, despite the Enforcement Directorate’s request for a 15-day extension of custody, the court’s decision to remand her is noteworthy. It remains possible that the ED will pursue custody of Kavita while she is in remand.
