Idupulapaya: In Vijayawada, Tourism Minister RK Roja and Irrigation Minister Ambati Rambabu have clinched tickets for the upcoming assembly elections despite facing opposition from local leaders and party members. Revenue Minister and BC leader Dharmana Prasada Rao, along with Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh, unveiled the complete list of candidates for all assembly and 24 Lok Sabha constituencies. This announcement was made in the presence of party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at Idupulapaya on Saturday. Interestingly, the party has largely retained recently appointed constituency-level coordinators and incumbent legislators as candidates in the final list.
Although there were speculations about last-minute changes, Jagan Mohan Reddy opted not to make any further alterations. Over the past two months, the party gradually replaced approximately 50 sitting legislators and MPs with new coordinators. Several ministers, including Taneti Vanitha, Gudivada Amaranath, and Merugu Nagarjuna, are contesting from new constituencies. However, other cabinet ministers such as Dharmana Prasada Rao and Botcha Satyanarayana will contest from their current constituencies.
Assembly Speaker Tammineni Seetharam has been fielded from the Amudalavalasa constituency in Srikakulam district. All three ST candidates from Manyam district – V Kalavathi, P Pushpa Srivani, and Rajanna Dora – have retained their current seats. In some instances, adjustments were made following protests from locals. For example, Araku sitting MP Goddeti Madhavi has been moved to Paderu as an assembly candidate. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will contest from the Pulivendula assembly constituency, while sitting MP Avinash Reddy will run as the Kadapa LS candidate.
