The Hyderabad Meteorological Center has warned that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in Telangana for the next few days. In this context, a red alert has been issued for several districts. It has been stated that the cyclone will continue up to a height of 5.8 km above sea level over Telangana, which borders North Coast Andhra.
A surface cyclone has formed in the central region of the Bay of Bengal at a height of 5.8 km above mean sea level, and due to this, a low-pressure area is likely to form in the northwest Bay of Bengal adjoining the west-central Bay of Bengal until Wednesday, and it is likely to strengthen in the next 48 hours.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed the in-charge ministers and officials of the districts to be alert in the wake of heavy rains in the state of Telangana. He has instructed the top officials to cancel the holidays of government employees of all departments for three days.
He has advised that pre-emptive measures should be taken in flood-affected districts including Hyderabad and that police services should be used to control traffic in the city.
Revanth Reddy said that if necessary, educational institutions should take action on holidays and IT employees should be alerted to work from home.
He said that people should not come on the roads as much as possible, and that there should be no loss of life, property damage, or damage to livestock. CM Revanth Reddy held a review meeting with district collectors and high-ranking officials through video conference from the Command Control Center.
He clarified that the government is ready to provide the necessary funds for relief efforts. He said that electricity department officials should be alert everywhere and take immediate action to prevent power disruption. He suggested that mobile transformers and generators should be kept ready.
Revanth Reddy instructed the officials to ensure that helicopters are available for airlifting in case of sudden floods and to coordinate with NDRF personnel from time to time. He said that employees and staff should cancel their holidays and take steps to ensure that they are available 24 hours a day.
Meanwhile, Hydra said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in Hyderabad city and its suburbs for the next three days. Hydra Commissioner Ranganath said that 10 to 15 centimeters of rainfall is likely in several areas of Medchal district and Cyberabad, and 20 centimeters in some areas. Hydra appealed to the public not to take vehicles on the roads unless it is an emergency.
