Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized that the people of Telangana entrusted him with power based on the promises made during the election campaign. Continuing the fulfillment of these commitments, the Chief Minister launched the Mahalakshmi and Gruha Jyothi schemes at the secretariat on Tuesday. He reiterated the government’s dedication to honoring its electoral pledges, stating that initiatives such as the free electricity scheme, providing up to 200 units to illuminate the homes of the underprivileged, will be rigorously executed.
Asserting the government’s proactive approach, Chief Minister Reddy highlighted the swift implementation of promises, noting that within two days of assuming office, two guarantees have already been fulfilled, with more in progress. He affirmed the Congress party’s steadfastness in keeping its word and emphasized prudent financial management in advancing these initiatives. Additionally, he reaffirmed the commitment to Sonia Gandhi’s pledge, ensuring free electricity for eligible beneficiaries.
Regarding application procedures, the Chief Minister assured eligible individuals of future opportunities to apply for benefits, emphasizing accessibility through mandal offices. Reflecting on past schemes, he recalled the UPA regime’s implementation of the deepam scheme and subsidized gas cylinders at Rs 400, contrasting it with the subsequent BJP-led government’s increase to Rs 1,200.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, speaking at the inauguration of the Gruha Jyothi and Mahalakshmi schemes, reiterated that only white cardholders will receive gas cylinders at Rs 500. He highlighted the scrutiny of consumption patterns to ensure fair distribution, estimating that approximately 40 lakh families will benefit from the initiative. Additionally, he assured inclusion of eligible names not currently on the beneficiary list.
