Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to make grand and permanent arrangements for the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu, emphasizing that the event should be conducted on the scale of the Kumbh Mela. He reviewed preparations and advance readiness with officials at the Command Control Center, stressing that development of major temples along the Godavari riverbanks should be a top priority and that facilities must be planned to handle the anticipated influx of devotees.
The Godavari Pushkaralu is scheduled to begin on July 23, 2027, giving authorities nearly 22 months to focus on permanent infrastructure and development works. Officials informed the CM that the Godavari enters Telangana from Maharashtra and flows along a 560-kilometer stretch in the state, requiring the preparation of approximately 74 Pushkar ghats. The CM directed that all major temples along the river, including Dharmapuri and Kaleshwaram from Basara to Bhadrachalam, be developed with permanent ghats and improved facilities for devotees.
CM Ravanth Reddy also highlighted the need for adequate infrastructure to manage large crowds at temple sites. He emphasized planning for permanent ghats, improved road networks, vehicle parking, drinking water, bathing facilities, and other amenities. Riverfront areas suitable for Pushkar snanams should also be developed to ensure that even if up to two lakh devotees arrive on a single day, there would be no inconvenience, ensuring a safe, organized, and smooth experience for all pilgrims.
