Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed collectors that 3,500 Indiramma House beneficiaries be selected in each constituency and the final list of beneficiaries be announced only after the approval of the district in-charge minister. He cautioned in a meeting with the collectors that negligence will not be tolerated in the matters of Bhu Bharati, Indiramma Houses and drinking water supply.
He suggested that steps should be taken to prevent any lapses and made it clear that the collectors should have complete understanding of the Bhu Bharati Act and they should attend awareness seminars on the Bhu Bharati Act in every mandal of the district.
He said that a summer action plan should be implemented in the districts regarding drinking water supply and that alternative arrangements should be focused on based on water availability. He explained that there should be no drinking water problem anywhere and that measures should be taken to ensure that drinking water supply does not face any problems by coordinating with the Irrigation Department from time to time.
The government is working to formulate a law for the safety of gig workers in the state of Telangana. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy discussed the draft bill prepared by the Labor Department with senior officials and union leaders. He ordered that the draft of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Bill be put online and opinions, objections and suggestions should be received from the public.
Meanwhile, conducting a review meeting on the safety of gig workers, CM Revanth Reddy told the Labor Department to prepare the final draft by the 25th of this month and make arrangements to bring the Labor Day Act into force on the 1st of next month. He said that the new law should prioritize the safety of workers and ensure coordination and harmony between companies and aggregators.
He suggested several changes and additions to the draft. The CM reminded that there are about 4 lakh gig workers in food delivery, transport and package delivery in the state and that he had promised before the elections to bring a law for the safety of gig workers and platform workers.
He said that for the first time in the country, accident insurance has been implemented for gig workers. He said that the government had issued orders on December 30, 2023, to provide accident insurance of Rs. 5 lakh in case of death of gig and platform workers. He advised the officials that the newly implemented law should also be a guideline for Telangana in the country.
