Vijayawada: In compliance with directives from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Andhra Pradesh CID has initiated legal action against TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly orchestrating a “fake” campaign regarding the Land Titling Act. The CID has registered a criminal case against Naidu, his son Nara Lokesh, and another individual on charges related to disseminating false information about the Land Act. This action follows a complaint lodged by Vijayawada Central YSRC MLA Malladi Vishnuvardhan, prompting the CID’s intervention at the behest of the ECI.
The complaint outlined instances of voters receiving IVR calls containing messages urging them not to support YSRC president and Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy but instead to back Chandrababu Naidu. These messages falsely claimed that the Land Titling Act would lead to the loss of voters’ wealth and land records. The MLA alleged that the TD’s campaign was maliciously intended to tarnish the reputation of the YSRC president as a land grabber and to propagate misinformation about the Land Titling Act proposed by the YSRC government.
