The much-anticipated Kuberaa, directed by the renowned Sekhar Kammula and featuring Dhanush and Nagarjuna, was released in theaters this Friday and already gaining a ton of buzz due to its unique storytelling and fantastic performances. With very good word-of-mouth and lots of good reviews, the film is very slowly but surely creeping toward being a box office hit.
To celebrate the popularity of the film, the crew held a grand success meet, and with Megastar Chiranjeevi as the chief guest, the event had a lot of glamour and glitz.
Chiranjeevi shared his warm expression of appreciation of Nagarjuna for being a part of a rare and risky character in Kuberaa. He recalled a previous talk with Nag, before it was released. He said, “Once, I asked Nag about his character and he said that he did something different this time. Dhanush is the hero, but Nag told me that he was looking forward to going against the grain and trying something different.”
Having seen the film, Chiranjeevi said Nagarjuna’s choice was not only the correct one but was truly motivating. “Nag’s choice of this role was not just daring–it made me think differently about my own choices. He once mentioned that he plans to stay in the industry for another 40 years. After Kuberaa, I believe he absolutely can,” he shared.
Chiranjeevi also appreciated the way Nagarjuna brought the character of Deepak to life—a role he described as both complex and layered. “He played it with such ease and conviction. It’s not an easy character, but Nag made it look effortless,” Chiranjeevi noted.
He also stressed that Nagarjuna has always inspired him—not just on-screen, but off of it also. “I am inspired by Nag’s discipline, ability to think out of the box, fitness and emotional stability, he has always inspired me. I honestly look up to him,” said Chiranjeevi.
In a warm and emotional moment, Chiranjeevi said to Nag, “I am trying to walk the path created you and keep your pace. Seeing you doing these kinds of roles makes me want to do more different and experimental roles in the future.”
Wrapping up his speech, Chiranjeevi credited the film’s success to director Sekhar Kammula’s vision and Nagarjuna’s willingness to take on the role. “The film’s first victory was Sekhar imagining Nag in this role—and Nag saying yes. He said Kuberaa would be a hit, and he was absolutely right,” he said, as the audience responded with a thunderous applause.
