The Academy Awards union has inducted 398 new members into the group making the total count to more than 10,000 members since it wanted to expand its inclusiveness towards non-white actors across the Globe and the two stars of RRR-Charan & Taarak were among the few Indians that became the official members.
The year 2022 kept Indian Cinema on the International level since Rajamouli’s brainchild RRR has won many accolades, awards, and rewards including the fabulous Academy Awards. Continuing the joy, the Academy’s CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang announced their new list of 398 members across the world Cinema which includes our Indian celebrities as well. Among the Indian members, RRR cast and crew like Charan, Taarak, MM Keeravani, Chandrabose, Senthil, Kaala Bhairava were there and others like SIddarth Roy Kapoor, Mani Ratnam, Sabu Cyril, Shaunak Sen, Chaitanya Tamhane also got his incredible opportunity to become the prestigious members of the Academy now.
The best thing about being a member of the Academy is that the members get some privileges to vote for the nominations of future Oscar Awards and also have a chance to end up a Jury in rare cases. This is said to be an honorary thing since Indian Cinema is lacking its own credit on International Platforms and the presence of these many Indians onboard would increase the fame and recognition.
