Nayanthara, often referred to as Kollywood’s “Lady Superstar,” is now in a spate of legal tangles after the release of her wedding documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, on Netflix.
The first wave of the controversy was from actor Dhanush, when he filed a case against actress Nayanthara, her husband and director Vignesh Shivan, as well as Netflix. According to him, without his permission, a clip of his movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was taken for the documentary. He seeks compensation of Rs 10 crore. Nayanthara responded publicly but Dhanush chose legal channels to increase the matter.
The popular film Chandramukhi, which stars Rajinikanth and Jyothika, is also reportedly being used in the documentary without taking the right authorization. Chandramukhi producers have sent a legal notice to Nayanthara and Netflix, seeking Rs. 5 crore as the value of unauthorized usage of their content.
