Vijayawada: TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu has written to PM Narendra Modi, urging the declaration of cyclone Michaung’s devastation as a ‘national disaster.’ Naidu emphasizes the extensive damages in both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, calling for official acknowledgment beyond state borders. “In light of these circumstances and recognizing the cyclone’s impact beyond Andhra Pradesh to neighbouring Tamil Nadu, I earnestly request the declaration of cyclone Michaung as a national disaster,” stated Naidu in the letter.
Chandrababu Naidu also appealed to the Prime Minister to promptly dispatch a central team for assessing the damage. Preliminary estimates indicate crop losses of Rs 10,000 crore, damages to 770 km of roads, and significant disruptions to essential facilities like drinking water, irrigation, and power in the region.
